I‘m giving away tickets! Productions and concerts are listed by giveaway deadline.
You (and a friend) could go for free to:
• The upcoming Keyboard Concerts performance by the celebrated Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz (7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Fresno State Concert Hall). Blechacz won the 2005 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, and he went on to become only the second Polish pianist, after Krystian Zimerman, to have enlisted under the Deutsche Grammophon label. His program includes several Chopin pieces, of course. I’m giving away two pairs of tickets. Deadline to enter: 11 p.m. Thursday, March 7.
• The Fresno Philharmonic’s Mariachi Los Camperos concert (7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, Saroyan Theatre). In the mood for pops? The orchestra celebrates the Golden Era of Mariachi music with Grammy award winning Mariachi Los Camperos – led by Jesús “Chuy” Guzmán, considered by many to be among the finest mariachi ensembles in the world. Guest conductor Alexandra Arrieche leads the Fresno Philharmonic for this exciting exploration of music. I’m giving away two pairs of tickets. Deadline to enter: 2 p.m. Friday, March 8.
• The Concordia Choir, a world-renowned collegiate ensemble on tour from Moorhead, Minnesota (7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, Shaghoian Hall). This choir last visited Fresno a decade ago, and choral fans know it’s a must-see. Since 1920, the 72-voice choir (pictured above) has performed in nearly every major hall including Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center as well as numerous international tours. I’m giving away two pairs of tickets. Deadline to enter: 5 p.m. Monday, March 11.
• Opening weekend of the Fresno State theater department production of “Sanctuary City” (7:30 p.m. March 15-16, 2 p.m. March 17). From the description: In post-9/11 Newark, NJ, two teenagers brought to America as children become each other’s sanctuary from harsh circumstances. When G becomes naturalized, she and B hatch a plan to marry so that he may legally remain in the country and pursue the future he imagines for his life. But as time hurtles on and complications mount, the young friends find that this act challenges and fractures the closest relationship either has ever had. Gina Sandi-Diaz directs. The show runs through March 23.
I saw a professional production of this very fine play (by Martyna Majok) at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and found it strong and compelling. (Read my review of that production here.) I’m giving away a pair of tickets. Deadline to enter: 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
• Fresno Pacific University’s production of “The Madrigal Dinner: A Renaissance Feaste,” a themed concert and dinner (7-9 p.m. March 22-23, Warkentine Culture and Arts Center). A description:” The Visual and Performing Arts departments bid you join us for a Renaissance Madrigal Feaste and show! A three-course meal will be presided over by King Henry the 942nd while His Majesty’s Jester, the Royal Singers and Musicians, and Royal Juggler entertain and amuse the court. You won’t want to miss this evening of non-stop mirth and music!” Tickets are $50 general; admission includes includes the performance along with dinner, beverages, and dessert. I’m giving away a pair of tickets. Deadline to enter: 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
I’m putting all these giveaways into one post to make it easier for busy arts lovers to enter.
Here are the ground rules:
Ticket giveaways are open only to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. A free basic membership is available, and paid memberships start at $5 a month. (You can always opt for a one-time donation of as little as $3.) I love signing up new free members, but even better is adding members who are willing to financially support local arts journalism. It’s the only way this site can continue to stay alive. Memberships and donations are tax-deductible; this is a non-profit site under the fiscal sponsorship of the Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC). To become a member, click here.
To enter, follow the directions for each giveaway (and be sure to tell me which production you’re hoping for). Note the deadlines; they differ for each event. You’re welcome to enter for multiple events, but please leave a separate comment for each entry. You’ll find the comment field near the bottom of the page (just past my bio).

Dear Donald,
I enjoy tickets to Sanctuary City at Fresno State. If I get to choose, I would like to go to the Sunday March 17 performance. Otherwise the other two would be fine also.
