Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda is my favorite thing about Wicked. The music is a close second though.

I recently read Stacy Wolf’s brilliant essay, “Defying Gravity: Queer Conventions in the Musical Wicked,” and I’m thinking now that behind all that spectacle there may be so much more to see. Gotta love a smartly made BOOK musical, anyway, there seem to be so few anymore.
Ben Boone • Mar 16, 2019 at 12:56 pm
Well, I’ve been pretty “good” all my life, so the opportunity to be “wicked” for an evening is rather appealing 🙂
Fermina Martinez • Mar 15, 2019 at 8:49 pm

My wife and I wanted to get tickets at a previous Fresno run. We tried for several days without success. Then, I had to work in another location, and would not make it to the raffle in time. My wife took my daughter, who didn’t want to see the show, and they put their names in. Who wins the right to buy tickets? My daughter, of course! Suddenly, she wants to see “Wicked,” and I had to settle for a silent movie that night.

I love everything about Wicked! The music, costumes, characters, props and the plot. I even planned a friend’s 60th birthday party with “Wicked” as the theme. Everyone came as a witch or warlock and rec’d a bottle of the green elixir. Great fun! Just like the play.
Celeste DeMonte • Mar 15, 2019 at 8:24 am
The story of “Wicked” is a reminder that it’s a good idea to have the back story before you judge someone. I saw Wicked in NYC when Fresno Master Chorale was there to sing in Carnegie Hall and I’d love to see it again!
Andrea Nielsen Bouton • Mar 15, 2019 at 8:17 am
After reading the Wicked book series, I really appreciated the character of Elphaba. How hard it is to be different! Now, seeing the story set to wonderful music, live, on stage, it is magic! I would really like those tickets! 🙂
Julie • Mar 15, 2019 at 7:54 am
I have not been lucky enough to see it yet, but I love the music!
David Brodie • Mar 15, 2019 at 7:18 am
I would love to see Wicked because I like green people.
Erick Rozigas • Mar 15, 2019 at 6:32 am
I love the story of Wicked. I believe it is relatable to many individuals who are different from those around them. I would truly enjoy seeing the show again.
Kaila I. • Mar 15, 2019 at 6:27 am

I love the message of embracing all peoples, of relishing the uniqueness of each person. How relevant today!!!
Kristy Page • Mar 15, 2019 at 5:26 am
I love the music of the musical Wicked! It would be amazing to go!
CHARLES RABB • Mar 15, 2019 at 5:12 am
I saw it with the original Broadway cast. I love the music.
Melanie Torrey Heyl • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:58 pm
I love all the foreshadowing of what comes later, especially how characters like the tin man and scarecrow became who they are in The Wizard of Oz.
Jacob Wilson • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:50 pm
Wicked was the last musical I saw with my grandmother when she was alive. It holds a very special place in my heart.
Lisa Ovalle • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:39 pm
I love stories retold in a different point of view. It can a very refreshing twist to a popular storyline. I’ve seen Wicked the last two times it came and now would like to share it with someone for their first time.
Angela Martin • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:32 pm
I have never seen Wicked!! I have always wanted to but never had the opportunity.
Ryan Gilmore • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:31 pm
I’ve never seen the show but what I love most about the show is the music and vocal chops these leading ladies get to show off.
Stephanie Barnett • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:23 pm
If I had to choose the reason(s) I want to see Wicked it would have to be getting to see the famous flying scene and because of the overall beautiful music. I’ve been a fan of Wicked since I was 12. It was one of the first musicals to really grab me and not let go. So I would be ecstatic to finally see it live.
Ben Bo • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:16 pm
What I love most about WICKED is that on the surface we can enjoy the great music and costumes, but on a deeper level. it gives the backstory of why one charactor ends up becoming “wicked.” and as such provides a metaphor for a huge issue in US culture and society: Do we vilify the wicked and expend great energy and resources to “destroy/castrate/nullify” them, or do we as a society look to the root causes of “wickedness” and strive as a culture to address those? (providing greater love and acceptance). It is a huge question, eloquently and metaphorically addressed.

For good!! Gets me every time.

The Wicked Witch of the West is one of the most iconic evil characters in modern day history—she is a character that we have grown up loving to hate. Yet, there is always more than one side to a story (you, Donald, as a good journalist know that better than most.) The beauty of Wicked is that through exceptional acting, singing and staging, the audience lives through Elphaba’s formative years. We already know she is going to die (thanks, Dorothy), but we get to know this green monster on a personal level…. and discover she’s a lot like us. In fact, we learn that Elphaba is more admirable than some of her other, more “popular” classmates. We walk away thinking that maybe, just maybe, we shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover and, perhaps with a bit more understanding and determination, anyone can “defy gravity.”
This celebration of life is just one of the reasons why my daughter and I love Wicked.
Linda Ramirez • Mar 14, 2019 at 5:08 pm
I like the music. Plus the story line is great.
Jennifer • Mar 14, 2019 at 4:00 pm
I love the message and of course the music!!
Cleo • Mar 14, 2019 at 2:47 pm
love the music and the spectacular production and the whole idea of the prequel!!
Sara • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:57 pm
The music and the message that things aren’t always what they seem. And, not to be a cliche, but Defying Gravity.
Candice Peters • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:46 pm
I love that the story is taken from another characters point of view and how it fits so well with the story of The Wizard of Oz. Also, the music is fantastic!!
Jay Parks • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:43 pm
I want to go. Inexplicably, I’ve never seen it or listened to the music. I suppose the thing I like most bout it is the hype of it from people that have.
Janice L. • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:41 pm
What a fantastic giveaway! Wicked has got to be one of the best musicals of all time. My favorite thing is every single song that comes from this show. So fun to sing along!
Paige Addington • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:33 pm
As always, for me it’s the music. Well , it’s also the costuming too but I love the duets. Especially For Good! Going to Wicked is like momentarily going to a strange magical place. You know the story, but you always see something different.
Gail Marshall • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:24 pm
I’d like to attend because I would bring a French foreign exchange student,16, who has never seen the play! Every young girl should see this no matter where in the world she lives, don’t you think this would be a great memory of Fresno?
Emily A • Mar 14, 2019 at 1:22 pm
My favorite thing about wicked is watching the back stories to a familiar tale (Wizard of Oz).
Silvia Fisher • Mar 14, 2019 at 12:50 pm
I have not had the opportunity to see Wicked. I hear all but good reviews. Would love to see it.
Tamara Tackett Dent • Mar 14, 2019 at 11:36 am
I love Elphaba finally getting her well deserved spotlight!
I hope this run is a great success for Friesno.
Danielle Seaberg • Mar 14, 2019 at 11:20 am
My favorite thing about Wicked is the music first of all and also the end of the first act of the show. The first time I ever saw it I think I burst into tears because I was blown away.
JAVIER CABRERA • Mar 14, 2019 at 11:13 am
Of course it would be an honor to win tickets to WICKED. It is the must see musical ever! I am tapping my ruby sneakers in hopes of getting this wonderful prize/experience.

RosePeralta • Mar 14, 2019 at 10:16 am
It has been a dream of mine to watch WICKED, an absolute dream! My favorite film is the The Wizard of Oz. My family even nicknamed me the Wicked Witch of the West as kid. Hahaha! I love this adaptation of the story and would love to finally see it on the stage. Plus it would be the perfect birthday gift ever! Thank you for offering this giveaway!
