You can win a pair of tickets to what is sure to be one of the most popular (and most poignant) events of the Fresno theater season. StageWorks Fresno will bid adieu to Fresno with a final cabaret performance (festivities begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, with the show starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Mercedes Edwards Theatre in downtown Clovis). Here’s a description:
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Join us for one final CELEBRATION as we take a bit of a stroll down StageWorks Fresno’s memory lane with many of the performers and performances you have come to know and love over the years including Taylor and Daniel Abels Rodriguez, Meg Clark, Amalie Larsen and Terry Lewis along with MANY others as well as some surprises along the way.[/perfectpullquote]
The company announced it is disbanding after 10 years of providing a high level of theater in the Fresno area. Here’s my story on the closure and my list of Top 10 favorite productions over the years.
The event was originally planned at the Fresno Art Museum, but ticket demand was so high it quickly sold out. The cabaret was moved to the Mercedes Edwards, but seats are still limited. Proceeds from this fundraiser go toward paying some of the many costs associated with closing a longtime theater company. Tickets are $50, but a lucky member of The Munro Review will receive a free pair.
The contest is open only to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. Tax-deductible memberships start at $5 a month, and you can make a one-time donation of as little as $3. (Paid memberships help keep the site running, and paid members get special members-only benefits. Please consider a paid membership in support of independent, local arts journalism.) A free membership option is available. For details on how to join, go to the Membership and Sponsorship page. No purchase, donation or membership is necessary to enter the ticket giveaway.
To enter this giveaway, leave a reply on this post (see below) answering this question: What was your favorite StageWorks Fresno production? Deadline to enter is 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email.
The Munro Review has no paywall but is financially supported by readers who believe in its non-profit mission of bringing professional arts journalism to the central San Joaquin Valley. You can help by signing up for a monthly recurring paid membership or make a one-time donation of as little as $3. All memberships and donations are tax-deductible.

I’m partial to Ragtime but picking a favorite is so difficult. Stageworks gave us more than just an enjoyable theatre experience. We were blessed with art that made us think about the human experience and our connections to others. ❤️

It’s really hard to pick just one. But if I can go with two, I’d say “Next to Normal” and “The Normal Heart.” I saw both with my daughter.

The first stageworks production I got to see was Funhome and I’m so lucky to have had such a good first show to go to! That summer was just fantastic.

La Cage Aux Folles. And the fact that my husband loved it as well made it extra special.

I will start with my heart is broken that we lose another piece of culture in Fresno. Yes 10 years has been amazing but still…..so if I have to pick a favorite…. and this may sound crazy but I loved Momma Mia.. it was just great escape at a time when I needed a smile.

I have loved so many Stageworks productions but I have to say that my all time favorite was La Cage aux Folles! Everyone did such a spectacular performance! I had no idea that Stageworks was ending this year. It brings tears to my eyes.

Book of Will because it gave me the opportunity to work with the wonderful folks who created and sustained Stageworks. Though the company is shutting its doors I am so grateful for the level of theatre they brought to this region and the lasting friendships I have made by being a small part of it.

Going back always…A Year with Frog and Toad. So imaginative and a perfect way to introduce children to theatre.

I loved all of the shows but my favorite is Light in the Piazza. Thank you for ten amazing years Stageworks Fresno!
