few years back, the Fresno Master Chorale sang Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living.” It was my first listen to this popular composer. I loved the piece — so much so that I went on an “Forrest binge” on Apple Music for a couple of days and listened repeatedly to his entire repertoire. His music is joyful, accessible, stirring, uplifting and makes me happy.
At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, the chorale will present another Forrest song, this one titled “Jubilate Deo.” It’s paired with another joyful choral work, Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass.” The concert is at the Shaghoian Hall.
On the November episode of “The Munro Review on CMAC,” I talked with music director Anna Hamre and members Celeste DeMonte and Chris Simmons about the concert. Then we get to hear singer Devynn Braswell, accompanied by Edgar Contreras on guitar, sing a selection from the concert. This clip above is of the Fresno Master Chorale portion of the episode.
